Cataract & IOL
The Cellulose Sponge, also known as specialized surgical sponge or pad is used in surgery. It is also known as lap sponge which is used to absorb or wipe liquids or fluids during the surgical procedures. This PVA sponge can also be used with a suction to keep the operation area clean by the surgeon and control bleeding during the medical applications. The surgical spear sponge is affixed on a plastic handle made of 100% fiber and particle free.
PVA Sponge – Spear (Expanded) PVA sponge is triangular in shape which is made of 100% fiber. These are disposable sterile sponges which are also known as Eye Sponges, Eye Spear or LASIK Spears. They are preferred by surgeons to manipulate the tissue during the incision operations.

Indications
- Cases with extreme zonular weakness.
- Cases with missing zonules larger than 4 clock hours.
- Lens subluxation.
Capsule Support Segment
Capsule Support Segment is a partial ring of clear PMMA covering approximately one quadrant with a specially designed scleral fixation arm for permanent fixation.

Advantages
- Blunt-tipped eyelets to aid in the insertion of the ring.
- Additional eyelet to suture the ring to scleral tissue for better stability of the capsular bag.
- Special angle of the scleral fixation arm avoids tilting during the surgery.
- The eyelet is projecting anteriorly which allows it to sit outside the capsular bag.
- Due to the small size of the segment it is easier to insert inside the bag.

Advantages
- Dual hooks can be used in cases which have both, zonular instability and small pupil size together.
- Dual Hook can be inserted together through the same incision, thereby reducing the number of incisions required, while providing the benefits of both the hooks together.
- Easy to insert and remove.
Dual Hook
Dual Hook is a system with a combination of both, an iris retractor and a capsule hook. It is used for simultaneously providing a temporary support to the capsular bag and for temporary retraction of the iris, without making too many incisions.
Features
- Both the hooks are combined together with a common adjustable silicon lock, which helps in retaining both the hooks in a retracted position during the surgery.
- Iris retractors stretch and stabilize the iris during the surgery while capsule hooks support and stabilize the capsular bag.
- Capsule hooks have a compressed bulb shaped tip to avoid any accidental damage to the peripheral capsule and also provide a large support area per hook.
- Stem of the capsule hook is bent at an angle from the end in order to make handling of both the hooks easy.
- Iris Retractors are made of bright blue coloured fibre and Capsule Hooks are made of black coloured fibre to easily differentiate each hook.
- A set of 5 Buonsanti Dual Hooks is packed & sealed in a blister and then in a medical grade peel open pouch.
Indications
- Iris Retractors provides temporary retraction (pupil dilation) of the iris where dilation cannot be achieved pharmacologically.
- Capsule Hooks provide temporary support to the capsular bag when the zonules are weak or in case of subluxated lenses.
- Capsule Hooks maintain the position of the capsule during phaco.
- Capsule Hooks support the fornix as well as the capsulorhexis rim, so that the peripheral capsule isn’t attracted towards the phaco tip.
- Capsule Hooks avoid the problem of the capsular tension ring trapping cortex.
- Capsule Hooks prevent zonular stress during nuclear rotation.
- Capsule Hooks make it possible to perform posterior chamber phaco even with subluxated lenses having minimum zonular support.
Iris Hook
Features
- “U” shaped bend to engage the iris.
- Hook lies in the plane of the Anterior Capsule.
- The stem is at acute angle from the plane making it easy to handle.
- Adjustable silicone lock helps in retaining the hooks in a retracted position during the surgery.
- Supplied sterile in a set of 5 hooks in a plastic container inside a medical grade peel open pouch.
Indications

Advantages
- Unique angled design diminishes possibilities of the anterior chamber becoming shallow upon iris retraction.
- Reduces the chances of Sphincter damage.
- Makes IOL insertion easy.
- Reduces chances of Endothelium damage.
- Easy to insert and remove.

Indications
- Anticipated zonular dehiscence.
- Lens subluxation.
- Expected complications during phaco surgery.
- Implantation of foldable IOLs.
- High risk myopic eyes.
Capsular Tension Ring
Description

Advantages
- Circular expansion and stabilization of the capsular bag.
- Reduced risk of capsular fibrosis.
- Reduced risk of capsular shrinking.
- Safe IOL centration in eyes with zonular dehiscence.
- Stabilized conditions during phaco surgery.
Iris Care (Flexible Iris Retractors)
Iris retractors are used for temporary retraction (pupil enlargement) of the iris where dilation cannot be achieved pharmacologically.
- Flexible retractors made of bright blue PP (Polypropylene).
- Stretches and stabilizes the Iris during the cataract surgery.
- An adjustable silicon stopper provides a superior grip and allows adjustment of the pupil size
- Easy to insert and remove.

Capsule Hook (A Capsular Bag Supporting Device)
Advantages
- Maintains the position of the capsule during phaco.
- Supports the fornix as well as the capsulorhexis rim, so that the peripheral capsule isn’t attracted towards the phaco tip.
- Avoids the problem of the capsular tension ring trapping cortex.
- Prevents zonular stress during nuclear rotation.
- Makes it possible to perform posterior chamber phaco even with subluxated lenses having minimum zonular support.
- Easy to insert and remove.
Eye Shield
Eye shield is used for a short duration to protect the patient’s eye from accidental injury or rubbing after a cataract surgery.
- Made from high quality clear polycarbonate.
- The eye shield covers the patient’s eye using an adhesive tape or a patch.
- Smooth edge for maximum comfort.
